A.N1 INDICATION

** ON A/C 106-149, 234-235, 239-249, 251-299, 303-450, 651-700, 801-913, 915-970

The N1 indication is displayed in analog and digital form. A needle below which the N1 digital value appearsgives the analog indication.

The N1 actual analog display (needle) and the digital display are in green color in normal operation. 100 %correspond to 5000 RPM.

The color of the analog and digital displays changes from green to amber if N1 actual exceeds the N1

MAX + 1% during more than 5 seconds. It changes from amber to red if N1 actual exceeds the N1 red line+0.1%.** ON A/C 003-049, 051-057, 059-059, 062-099, 101-101, 103-149, 151-199, 201-220, 222-223, 225-227,229-235, 239-249, 251-299, 301-450, 651-700, 801-913, 915-970

B.N1 RED LINE

The N1 red line is represented by an arc shaped red ribbon situated at the end of the scale.

If the N1 actual value exceeds the N1 red line (even for a short period of time), a small red line appearsacross the N1 scale and then stays at the maximum value which has been reached. This indicates a N1exceedance condition.

Should this condition occur, the small red line disappears only after a new take-off or after a maintenanceaction through the MCDU. The maximum value which has been reached is stored in the BITE memory andcan be read on either MCDU in the maintenance mode through the DMC menu .C.N1 lIMIT

The N1 limit displayed value is the N1 limit value delivered by ECU of the engine for which the N1THR isthe greatest or the N1 LIM of ECU linked to the fastest engine if N1.1 - N1.2 > 0,2% or the N1 LIM of ECUremaining valid after one ECU has failed or the N1 LIM of ECU belonging to the engine which is still runningafter an engine failure. On the ground when both engines are stopped, the displayed N1 limit value is thatone delivered by the ECU of the engine the throttle control lever of which is in the most advanced position.D.N1 LIM MODE

The N1 LIM MODE is the mode in which the above N1 LIMIT value is computed. Obviously , the displayedN1 limit mode is that one delivered by the ECU which is selected to display the N1 limit value .** ON A/C 003-049, 051-057, 059-059, 062-099, 101-101, 103-149, 151-199, 201-201, 203-207, 209-209,

E.N1 MAX

The N1 MAX value is displayed in analog form by means of a thick amber mark across the N1 scale.N1 MAX is the N1 LIMIT value corresponding to the full forward position of the throttle control lever.F.N1 REFERENCE (N1 throttle)

The N1 reference symbol (small white circle) represents the N1 predictive value for each engine, in

manual mode (the N1 value that would be reached or will be reached in manual control after stabilization, depending on the throttle control lever position).G.N1 COMMAND

** ON A/C 106-149, 234-235, 239-249, 251-299, 303-450, 651-700, 801-913, 915-970

The N1 CMD is displayed in analog form by means of four green arcs of circle joining the N1 actual needleto the N1 command needle.

The N1 CMD is displayed only with the A/THR engaged, and the N1 CMD value valid, and engine running.H.N1 Trend

In addition a green triangle next to the N1 CMD value enhences the N1 direction and stays displayed evenwhen the two values are very close; it disappears when the N1 value has reached the N1 CMD value. It is displayed only if engine is running.

J.N1 dgraded data

In case of failure of the normal N1 measurement system from the FWC, the ECU computes a theoreticalvalue taking into account the other engine parameters. In this case the last digit of N1 is dashed with twohorizontal amber lines.

The selected position is indicated by cyan indexes pointing to the next target position of the slats and flaps. At the same time a cyan number gives the selected position in accordance with the reference numberswhich are written on the flaps/slats control panel.

When the target position is reached, the cyan indexes disappear and the number becomes green. This number changes to the FULL message when the slats and flaps are fully extended.** ON A/C 003-049, 051-057, 059-059, 062-099, 101-101, 103-149, 201-220, 222-223, 225-227, 229-235,239-249, 251-299, 651-700, 901-913, 915-950

31-66 - ECAM ENGINE/WARNING DISPLAY

A.Operation

The lower part of the display provides the pilot with either warning/ caution or memo messages. Specialmemos or check-list as landing memo or take-off memo are provided on this display. At last, special messages such as STS, ADV or overflow arrow can be also displayed.

The following description explains in general the partitioning and the use of the different zones. Thedescription and the various texts which are delivered by the FWC for display on the upper ECAM DU isgiven in the chapter 315100 .

B.Partitioning

** ON A/C 106-149, 234-235, 239-249, 251-299, 303-450, 651-700, 801-913, 915-970

The lower part is divided in 2 zones separated by a grey stripe. The left zone contains 8 lines of 27characters whereas the right one contains 8 lines of 14 characters.** ON A/C 003-049, 051-057, 059-059, 062-099, 101-101, 103-149, 151-199, 201-220, 222-223, 225-227,229-235, 239-249, 251-299, 301-450, 651-700, 801-913, 915-970

C.Warning Messages

These messages are displayed first on the left zone and have priority on the left memo messages. If thenumber of lines of the whole text of the warning/caution messages exceeds 7, the titles of the not shownfailures are written on the right zone and they have priority over the right memo messages displayed . Thesecondary failures are displayed on the right zone and they have priority over right memo messages .

D.Overflow Indication

When the text of warning/caution messages exceeds the capacity of the display, a green overflow arrowappears below the grey stripe. This arrow concerns only warning messages and does not deal with memomessages.

This arrow remains displayed on the screen as long as there are texts still waiting for display.

E.Memo Messages

They are shared in two lists, on the left and right parts. They are displayed when no warnings/cautionmessages are presented. As previously mentioned, the memo messages can be either A/C systemfunctions which are selected (LDG LT,...) or special check-lists like take-off memo or landing memo.

F.STS And ADV Messages** ON A/C 234-235, 239-249, 251-299, 305-450, 651-700, 801-913, 915-970

Added to the overflow indication, two draw attention symbols may appear on the display:·STS

It appears below the grey ribbon at the same location as the overflow arrow provided that thisone is away. This message indicates to the pilot that the status page is no more empty.

·ADV

It appears in normal and single display configuration to signal to the pilot that a parameter driftsin an A/C system. As the corresponding system page cannot be displayed on the lower ECAMdisplay unit, the pilot has to fetch the information on the ECAM control panel : the associatedpushbutton switch flashes to indicate which system is concerned.(Ref. 31-66 - ECAM ENGINE/WARNING DISPLAY14.Acquisition and Wiring

A.ECU (Fadec System)

Each engine control unit issues 4 output buses which always convey the same data 2 by 2. Each ECU isfully redundant; in case of failure of channel A, channel B takes over.

Each DMC receives and processes one 'A' bus and one 'B' bus from each engine ECU.

The DMCs take the needed parameters preferably on the bus corresponding to the channel in control (label275, bits 26 or 27).

If a parameter is invalid on one bus, the DMC takes it on the other bus. If this parameter is available neitheron the bus 'A' nor the bus 'B' the corresponding indication is either flagged (XX) or cleared, depending onthe nature of the parameter.

NOTE:There is no ECUWVALID signal. Each parameter is considered separately.B.FQI

The FQI issues 4 buses, FQI-1A, 1B, 2A, 2B.DMC1 acquires 1A and 2ADMC3 acquires 1A and 2BDMC2 acquires 1B and 2B.

Each DMC uses preferably the FQI-1 (A or B) bus parameters.

If the FQIS CHANNEL SUPERIORITY signal (label 276 bit 13 of both FQI channels) requests the switchingto the FQI-2 bus, the DMCs switches to this FQI-2 bus.

However, the DMC keeps using a given FQI-X bus only if this bus is valid.A given FQI-X bus is valid only if all parameters used by the DMC are valid.

If the 2 FQI-1 and 2 buses are invalid, the DMC switches permanently from one to the other until finding avalid one. Meanwhile the fuel quantity parameters are flagged (XX) on the ECAM E/W image.
