One day, a boy was flying a kite in the park, The weather was fine and a little windy, He was having a good time when suddenly his kite fell and got stuck in the tree. In order to get it down, he climbed up the tree. He was not careful enough and fell off the tree. He was badly hurt and he was taken to a hospital. It’s a lesson for us all.

Tom likes apples very much. One day when he played in garden, he looked up and saw a big tree with a lot of apples on it. He wanted to pick an apple but he is too short to reach it. He carried a ladder and put it against the tree. Then he began to climb, but suddenly a dog came. It was barking. Tom was much afraid of dogs. And he fell off the ladder and was hurt very badly. He couldn’t move on the ground and cried.

One Saturday afternoon, some boys were playing football on the grass. How they enjoyed themselves! But before long, something wrong happened. When the ball came to Jim, he kicked it hard, it flew away and fell into a hole under a big tree. The boys rushed there to get it, but they couldn’t get the ball out. Just then Li Lei had a good idea. He said: “Let me have a try.” He left for a while and returned with a pail of water. He poured it into

the hole. But the hole was very deep. Then the children went to carry the pails of water and poured it into the hole. The ball came out at last. How happy they were!

Eight

August 10th, Sunday Fine

This evening at 7:00 Li Fei came to my house. He asked me to go to see a film with him. On our way to the cinema, we saw a little girl crying by the road. She sat on the ground. We took her to a shop and bought her a big apple. The girl stopped crying. We asked her where he lived, She told us that she didn’t know. So we took her to the police station. Then we went to the cinema. When we arrived, the film was over. We didn’t see the film, but we felt happy.

One day on his way to school, Tom saw a wallet lying on the ground. He picked it up and found a lot of money in it. “Whose is this?”, he spoke to himself. When he say an old man walking in front of him, he had an idea. He hurriedly caught up with the man and asked if he had lost anything, hiding the wallet behind his back. The old man put his hand into his pocket, then cried, “Oh, I have lost my wallet. Have you found it?” “Yes,” Little Tom said and handed it to him. The man thanked the boy, but Tom said: “Not at all. This is what I should do”.

One day, Wu Dong and his younger sister were on their way to school when they saw

an old woman walking in front of them. She was carrying a basket full of vegetables. Suddenly the old woman walked on a piece of banana skin and fell to the ground. Her basket dropped and the vegetables came out of it. When Wu Dong saw what had happened to her, they ran to help the old woman. Wu Dong helped the granny to keep her feet on the ground while his sister picked up the vegetables and put them back into the basket. The old woman thanked the two children for being so kind and helpful to the old.

Eleven

One morning Li Ning was going home. Suddenly his bike didn’t work. Just then two boys went up. They helped him repair his bike. After they mended it, it was dark. Li Ning thanked them and went home. On his way home he thought: They were really good Young Pioneers. I must learn from them.

Twelve

It was Sunday yesterday and the sun is shining and Wang Hua went to the park. When they were walking across the bridge, they saw a boy fall into the river. The boy couldn’t swim. His head was in the river up and down. Zhang Ling and Wang Hua ran to the river at once. They pulled the boy out of the river and helped him put on a dry coat.

Thirteen

One day a young pioneer saw two little boys holding on to a truck. He asked them to come down and told them not to do that because it’s dangerous. The two boys’ faces went red. After a while the young pioneer was surprised to see they were running to a tricycle again. But then he was very happy because the two boys were helping an old man

push the tricycle.

Fourteen

One day some workers were repairing the road. They had dug a big hole in the road. It was late, so they put up two signs on both sides of the hole before they left. The two signs could tell people to be careful not to drop into the hole. Sometimes later, a blind man was walking along the road. He was just walking towards the hole. He couldn’t see the signs. Just then Zhao Dong was there and shouted: “Be careful! Don’t go any further. Or you’ll fall into a hole.” Then he helped the blind man to walk beside the hole safely. The man was very thankful to Zhao Dong.

Fifteen

One day, Mr. Green was walking with his dog in the park when he saw a ten dollar note on the grass. There is a sign near it. Mr. Green wanted to get the note. After making sure there is nobody nearby, Mr. Green walked into the grass and picked up the note. Then a park keeper came up to him and asked him to pay ten dollars. Why? Because there was a notice, it said, “Keep off the grass, or pay for $10”.

On the way home, Mike put it down on the road and looked at it. It was made of clay and had three legs. Then he said to the pot, “ You have three legs and I have only two. You can carry me for a few minutes.” Then Mike sat down inside the pot. But the pot did not move. Mike got angry and broke it. Then carried the broken pot home. His mother was angry. “You are stupid!” she said. But Mike thought, “I’m not stupid. Only a stupid person carried something with three legs.”

There are many mice in a house. The woman of the house gets a cat. The cat kills many of the mice. The woman is very happy. Then the mice get together and have a meeting to think out an idea. All mice speak, but no one knows what to do. At last, a young mouse has a good idea. That is they must put a bell on the cat. Then the cat comes near, they will hear the bell and run away and hide. Then the cat will not catch any more of them. But the old mouse asks, “Who will put the bell on the cat?” no mouse answers.

Great changes have taken place in people’s life in the past 20 year. In the past people

kept in touch with relatives or friends mainly by sending letters. They would listen to the radio for news and other information. Children used to go to school by bicycle. Big family had to share small rooms. Now people can talk to others by telephone or on the Internet at home. When they are free, they watch the news and other programmers on TV. Some families are rich enough to live large tall buildings.

Saving the Earth

As time goes by, man is making the earth sick. People cut down too many trees and leave rubbish everywhere. Factories let out their waste without doing anything to it. This has caused some serious problems. For example, the land is sandy; the river is dirty; the air is less clean; even the temperature of the earth is rising (the earth is having a fever), and she is shouting for help. What shall we do to save her? My suggestion is that we should plant more trees, put the rubbish into dustbins and stop factories from pouring waste directly into the air or rivers. In all, we have only one earth, we should do everything to protect it, or we will regret.

A Happy Holiday

My friend Li Hua came to visit me on May Day. During the following days I showed him around the city. We went to the Beijing Museum on the morning of May 2. This morning I went to Changchun railway station to see my uncle off. When I went into the waiting hall, I saw an old woman crying in the corner. I went up to her and found that she lost her ticket and had no money left to buy another one. Just at that moment, two PLA men went up to the old woman to comfort her and one of them bought a ticket for her. The old woman was very excited and asked for their names and addresses. But the two soldiers left with smiles.
