Elvira Nabiullina is a Russian economist who currently serves as the governor of the Central Bank of Russia. She was born on October 29, 1963, in Ufa, Russia.

Nabiullina graduated from the Moscow State University with a degree in economics and later earned a PhD in economics from the same university.

She has held several high-ranking positions in the Russian government, including serving as Minister of Economic Development from 2007 to 2012 and as an economic adviser to President Vladimir Putin from 2012 to 2013.

In 2013, Nabiullina was appointed as the governor of the Central Bank of Russia, becoming the first woman to hold that position. During her tenure as the governor, she has worked to stabilize the Russian economy amidst economic sanctions and falling oil prices.

Nabiullina has been recognized for her contributions to the Russian economy and was named the Best Central Bank Governor in Europe by The Banker in 2017.
